Egyptian media reported today that humanitarian aid trucks have begun entering the Gaza Strip through the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Cairo News Channel said that trucks carrying aid supplies, including food aid and four fuel trucks, set out from in front of the Rafah crossing and headed for the Kerem Shalom crossing.
She added that the aid would be delivered to the United Nations on the Palestinian side, with each truck carrying 15 to 20 tons of aid.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Joe Biden agreed in a phone call last Friday that it was necessary to temporarily deliver large amounts of humanitarian aid and fuel to the United Nations at the Kerem Shalom crossing.
The Egyptian presidency said aid deliveries through the Kerem Shalom crossing would be temporary until “a legal mechanism is reached to reopen the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.”
