I am 1.80 meters tall. Only a few people can remain indifferent to such an uncomfortable fact. It seems that every relative, friend or acquaintance you meet has a civic duty to respond. For a part of society, this is also the only thing that describes me and the only thing worth paying attention to when encountering. Even if you meet several times in your life, there is no room for surprise the first time.
It’s not that those who are affected by height don’t want or know how to start a conversation. It works, and here’s how it works. Haven’t I grown taller again? Can I sit in the back seat of the car? One of my favorite questions to hear is, Do my joints hurt? A whisper in my ear: Where did you buy your shoes? At first I was shocked, thinking the questioner wanted to hear something from me. A store? A brand? Are you looking for exactly the same thing I have? Maybe you looked at something for your daughter? Until slowly, she figured out that my feet must be big because of my height. Emphasis on “figured out” because she was so surprised when she actually saw my legs. Shoes in size 40 are sold in all stores. The same goes for dear clothes! If I can’t buy something, it’s only because my size 38 is sold out. Yes, it’s true that jackets with long sleeves are hard to find because some manufacturers associate long sleeves with larger clothing sizes. It’s as if the fatter a person is, the longer his arms are.
When it comes to obesity, British scientists have done very little research.
