Sinn Fein says a new report makes it clear that the number of homes being built is not meeting demand.
Research by Savills Ireland found that population growth is outstripping housing supply by almost four times the rate.
Savills said the figure was 14% higher than the second worst country in the world – Spain.
Piers Doherty, Donegal TD Bank and Sinn Fein finance spokesman, said the report was yet another reminder of the government’s record on housing.
