Consumption sentiment slightly worse in July
CBS publishes data on household consumption conditions in its Consumer Radar every month. Household consumption is influenced by factors such as consumer expectations, personal financial conditions, and labor market conditions. Although the Radar indicator is closely related to household consumption, an improvement in conditions does not necessarily mean an increase in consumption.
According to CBS Consumer Radar for July, Dutch households were spending less well in July than in June. This was mainly due to manufacturers being less optimistic about future employment, smaller year-on-year share price gains and consumers being less optimistic about their financial situation over the next year.2 monthsHS.
