HK Tech 300 Southeast Asia Competition was successfully held to help overseas start-ups enter the Hong Kong and Mainland markets – EJ Tech

After selection, ten startups from five Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong won and presented their innovative solutions at the award ceremony held earlier. The winning teams all believed that this competition would help expand the Hong Kong and Mainland markets, accelerate scientific research implementation and business development.

CityU held the “Hong Kong Tech 300 At the “Southeast Asia Competition” awards ceremony, ten startups from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong, covering the fields of financial technology, deep technology, bio and health technology, information technology and artificial BroadCast Unitedligence, provide solutions for industries such as digital healthcare, energy sustainability, green materials, digital assets and real estate.

Each winning startup will receive angel investment of up to HK$1 million, as well as full support including professional services, business matching and co-investment opportunities.

Recognizing HK Tech 300’s contribution to nurturing innovative and technological talents

The award ceremony was attended by the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Dr. Sun Dong, who gave a speech. He said: “Hong Kong is one of the best destinations for start-up development in the world. Through the joint efforts of government, industry, academia and research, a good innovation and technology ecosystem and business environment have been created in the past few years, providing golden opportunities for global start-ups to start or expand their businesses in Hong Kong.” He also affirmedHong Kong Tech 300In addition, Chen Yulin, Director of the Innovation, Technology and Higher Education Division of the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Xu Guorong, Acting Consul General of Singapore in Hong Kong, were also invited to attend the ceremony.

CityU Council Chairman Huang Jiachun congratulated the winning startups and believed that the competition successfully attracted innovative projects and young entrepreneurs from Southeast Asia to participate, which strengthened CityU’s determination to cultivate talents and promote social development with innovative technology, and helped Hong Kong develop into an international innovation and technology center. CityU President Boi Yinchang was pleased to see the winning startups use CityU’s patented technology to enhance their innovation and technology products and services. He said: “This year coincides with the 30th anniversary of CityU becoming a university. We will continue to create a more prosperous innovation and technology ecosystem through more cross-disciplinary, cross-sector and cross-regional cooperation.”

Developing Southeast Asian innovation and technology networks to help Hong Kong attract overseas talent

Many winning start-ups from Southeast Asia believe that this competition can help companies use Hong Kong’s advantages and resources to enter the Hong Kong and Mainland markets; and Yunhe Technology, a Hong Kong company that focuses on developing “mixed reality” surgical assistance software, its founder and CityU alumnus Shi Junyi believes that this competition will help him expand opportunities in Southeast Asia and promote its technology transfer and commercialization to local development.

The winner, E3A Healthcare, is from Singapore and focuses on bioinformatics and biosensor technology to develop innovative newborn and women’s healthcare devices. The company’s chief financial officer, Chen Hongyuan, said: “Our business is mainly based on research and development, which requires large amounts of financing, good technology and talent support, and Hong Kong can meet all these needs.” He said that through this competition, he has expanded a lot of contacts and deepened his understanding of Hong Kong’s medical system. The company’s founder and CEO Trang (left) and her team are happy to win the award. She said: “The platform launched by the company mainly serves big cities like Hong Kong, connecting people in the real estate industry. The competition provides an opportunity for the company to enter the Hong Kong market and then explore business opportunities in the Mainland.”
