Hippindo: Jakarta needs a lot of investors to become an international city

Jakarta(ANTARA) –
The Indonesian Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) said the Jakarta metropolis needs a large number of investors and international buyers to realize its global city vision.

“We believe that Jakarta has all the facilities and needs a large number of investors and international buyers to do business,” Hippindo Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah said at the Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism and SME Expo (JITEX) 2024 on Wednesday.

He added that supporting stronger domestic trade was crucial amid the uncertain global situation.

He praised the Jakarta Provincial Government for organizing the trade fair and showcasing local and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) products. JITEX 2024 will be held from August 7 to 11.

JITEX 2024 includes an exhibition of local products and innovations as well as business matching activities to attract domestic and foreign buyers, thereby boosting economic growth.

Iduanja said he hoped the exhibition would help local products gain visibility and compete at the international level.

“We support ‘Buy Indonesian Made’ and we hope local products can be recognized overseas (markets),” he added.

He said he hoped that through this event, international tourists would have a good impression of Jakarta, which remains the trade and economic center of Indonesia.

In addition, Hippindo and the Jakarta Office of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and SMEs (PPKUKM) jointly launched the “Made in Jakarta” logo, which will be affixed to MSME and non-MSME products produced in Jakarta.

“We will have a ‘Made in Jakarta’ zone in the retail centre. We hope all provinces will be involved. Maybe there will be ‘Made in Aceh’, ‘Made in Papua’ and so on,” Iduanja said.

On the same occasion, PPKUKM Office Director Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said the “Made in Jakarta” program is a form of support for MSMEs to go global and export their products.
