Mexico City (apro) – “The president wants the new minister of security to understand some security issues,” reports virtual president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

He justified in this way the meeting that his next head of security and citizen protection, Omar García Harfuch, held yesterday afternoon with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

When asked about the meeting at a conference on Thursday, she responded:

“Obviously, the president of the republic can call any citizen of our country. The president of the republic said today, especially in the case of Omar, that they will discuss security issues.”

Scheinbaum-Pardo continues:

The president wants the new security minister to understand some security issues. “I know they will meet and I think it’s good that they meet.”

Asked whether the federal executive would meet with other future ministers, Sheinbaum-Pardo said only: “The president has to decide.”

In fact, the Morenstadt newspaper stressed that the President talks “every day” with Rosa Isela Rodríguez, the incoming Minister of the Interior and current Minister of Security. He said the same thing to Zoé Robledo, the current director of the IMSS, who will repeat his position.

García Harfouch made public yesterday on his social networks the meeting with López Obrador, just over a month after he was announced as the next president of the SSPC.

The meeting also took place in the political columns, amid rumors that the trained policeman is not liked by the Tabasco native because of his work experience during the six-year term of Felipe Calderón, especially in the Secretariat led by Genaro, where he was dedicated to criticizing García Luna.

In November 2023, these statements became stronger when, following a “proposal” by Sheinbaum, the party decided that, in the interests of gender equality, despite the victory of García Harfuch in three polls in Morena, she became the candidate for head of the CDMX government. This candidate is Clara Brugada, a long-time and devoted follower of Tabasco.
