The loss and damage affected livestock, poultry, bees and farms, and there were reports of casualties, but there are no official statistics yet.
Earlier, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) confirmed that Yemen will experience severe flooding and landslides due to the expected rainfall in the current rainy season.
“Intensive rainfall of up to 300 mm is expected in the central and southern highlands of Yemen over the next few days, with the highest daily rainfall intensity expected on August 7 this year (over 120 mm),” the UN Food and Agriculture Organization explained in its agricultural meteorological warning bulletin on Tuesday.
She noted that continued heavy rainfall in the coming weeks will greatly increase the likelihood of flooding and landslides.
Activists have launched an appeal on social media, calling on relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to quickly intervene to provide emergency assistance to those affected, as well as provide shelter and relief to the displaced who have lost their homes and properties.
