On Monday, June 17, Nicolás Maduro appointed Hector Silva as the new Minister of Ecological and Mining Development and President of the General Mining Company of Venezuela (Minerven).
“We will advance a broad and diverse mining development project. To this end, I announce Héctor Silva as Minister of Ecological Mining Development,” Maduro announced. In addition, the head of state stressed that any project must use technologies that protect the environment, otherwise it will not be approved.
Hector Silva, after taking up his new position, thanked the trust placed in him and his team. «Thank you very much for this honor you have given us, not only to me, but also to the entire CVG team and the entire working class. «We are sure that we will not let him down.»
Silva also stressed the importance of protecting nature during the mining process.
“The most important thing is to take care of nature and carry out mining operations with care for nature, but also to protect the miners and bring social policies into the homes of all workers,” he noted.
