Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Friday on MSNBC’s “All In” that Vice President Kamala Harris laid out a “strong progressive agenda” in her economic speech earlier today.
Asked for a reaction to the speech, Sanders said: “Given that she’s only been in the race for three weeks, I think she did a very good job on a lot of fronts. I think she laid out a strong progressive agenda today. Obviously, in the coming weeks and months, I think she’ll get more specific about some of the proposals, and she’ll continue to put forward new proposals. I always think that good policy is good politics. The fact that she talked about making it rain and the high prices of prescription drugs today is very welcome and the right thing to do.”
He added: “She talked about building 3 million units of affordable housing, and there’s a housing crisis in Burlington, Los Angeles and everywhere in between. We have to lower the cost of housing in America. She talked about ending medical debt so that the one in four people with cancer in this country don’t have to deplete their savings or go bankrupt. She talked about controlling the cost of groceries, and we know that ownership in that industry is highly concentrated. They’re jacking up prices, and hitting them is exactly the right thing to do and is very good politics.”
