“Fire investigators are treating the fire as suspicious. As such, police are currently in charge of the investigation and can be contacted for further information.”

A police statement today said a forensic examination of the scene determined the fire was “deliberately set”.

“The fire caused considerable damage to the home and neighbouring properties are also at risk,” the statement said.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who has not yet been contacted who may have seen unfamiliar people or vehicles in the area or acting suspiciously around the time of the Knighton Rd arson.”

The investigation team is conducting a rigorous investigation and thanks the public who have provided information so far, according to the statement.
