Hama Oil Minister-Syria Steps

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Dr. Firas Qaddour, held an expanded meeting at the Hama Governorate Headquarters Building with the heads of construction companies, service agencies and economic activities in the governorate, attended by Hama Governor Ma’an Subhi Abboud, to understand the fuel needs of these sectors and work to meet them.
The speeches of the directors present at the meeting focused on the need to increase the allocation of gasoline in the governorate to meet the required needs, in addition to the request to build two gas stations in Masyaf and Salhab to sell high-octane gasoline, to provide industrial gas to plastic industry factories, to provide diesel to tractors in the industrial zone of Hama to transport garbage to administrative units, to establish an integrated service center in the town of Tal Shahab, the designated location is ready, and to work on solving problems related to the “Al-Masail” gas station, affiliated to the Hama Farmers Union Agricultural Association, in cooperation with investors.
Minister Kadour, in response to the interventions presented, reviewed the current reality of oil and gas production, as well as the difficulties associated with the supply of these two materials, noting that the supply is expensive due to the sanctions and blockade against Syria, stressing the equitable distribution of grants among the governorates, with allocations made according to the needs of each governorate, with final approval by the government.
He pointed out that the ministry is keen to ensure the security of petroleum derivatives and distribute them to those who are entitled to them in various sectors according to the available quantities, whether locally produced or imported, and noted the establishment of two octane stations in Al-Ghab and Masyaf, in addition to instructing the establishment of an integration center in the region to ensure the security of the two stations, which will be vacated and put into operation within a month.
Regarding the Electronic Tracking System (GPS), the Minister of Petroleum confirmed that this is an excellent national project within the framework of the trend of digital transformation in the Ministry’s field of work, since it seeks to reduce energy losses through this system, meet the fuel needs of all sectors and rationalize their consumption through GPS tracking devices, in addition to combating any tampering or waste of fuel, which shows the need to reduce unnecessary fuel expenditure and waste, which has a positive impact on the national economy.

The Governor of Hama noted the importance of the meeting and the issues it raised related to oil and gas derivatives, with a particular focus on the development of distribution mechanisms, monitoring and follow-up in a fair manner. Strategies to be adopted through GPS tracking devices were also discussed.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Police Commander Major General Hussein Juma and Fuel Company General Manager Engineer Mohammed Laila.

The Minister also visited the liberated Idlib countryside, including the gas filling unit in Khan Sheikhoun city in Idlib countryside, which includes 6 mechanical gas filling tanks and a production capacity of 4,000 gas cylinders, which will start supplying the industrial gas cylinders they need for all activities in the governorate.
The minister also inspected an Octane 95 gas station owned by a fuel company in Khan Sheikhoun, which will be put into operation in the near future.
Minister Kadour met with Idlib Governor Thaer Salhab and some stakeholders to discuss the realities of oil derivatives and the required needs.
