BNC: 3 Consultants Whom CPT Can’t Reach
Since 5 out of 7 votes are needed to obtain a qualified majority, the Presidential Transition Council (CPT) was unable to approve, take measures or remove the three members of the Council implicated in the Banque Nationale scandal (Louis Gérald Gilles, Smith Augustin and Emmanuel Vertilair) because they represented an obstructionist minority and therefore could not possibly obtain the 5 votes required to pass a resolution against them.
Chile moves toward fisheries agreement
Woodley Simon, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Haiti in Chile, met with the Director of the Chilean National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service, Soledad Tapia Almonacid, to discuss the upcoming signing of a cooperation agreement in the fisheries sector that will strengthen the capacity of Haitian fishermen through training, while providing them with modern equipment and appropriate funding.
Mexico: Training Haitian police and military
The President of the Presidential Transition Council (CPT), Edgard Leblanc Fils, received on Friday two members of the Mexican Embassy in Haiti, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Jesus Cisneros and Deputy Chief of Mission, Ms. Joanna Gómez Rodríguez. The discussions focused on bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Mexico’s contribution to the training of the Haitian police and army, and several projects related to agriculture.

5 Haitian Francophone Youth Ambassador
Five Haitians, Ritzamarum Zétrenne, Laura Louis, Marc Sony Ricot, Judith Cénot and Weldy Saint-Fleur, were selected from more than 600 candidates at the 7th Forum of Young Ambassadors of Francophone Americas in Canada. The Forum offers high-level training in leadership, civic engagement and Francophone identity, culminating in the title of Young Ambassadors of Francophone Americas.
Haitian embassies and consulates closed:
The Embassy of Haiti in Washington, D.C. and the Embassy of Canada in Ottawa advise that they will be closed on the federal holiday (Labor Day) on September 2, 2024. Normal activities will resume on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The Consulate General of Haiti in Miami wishes to inform the Haitian community that its premises will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day. Activities will resume on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
