The Caleb and Gracier Massacres (Investigation)
A report by the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH) shows that at least 66 people were killed or disappeared in Carrefour and Gressier between January and July 2024, including four police officers and 15 women. The report shows that in the same period, 46 women and girls were collectively raped, dozens of people were injured, and hundreds of houses were looted or destroyed.

5×5 Championship Basketball Finals
The Haitian Basketball Federation (FHB) announced that as part of the men’s 5×5 U-20 tournament, which will be held from June 23 at the Saint Clair Park (located at 33 Delmas), the final will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, between two undefeated teams: semi-final winners Christ-Roi (Group A) against Max Motivation (68-37) and semi-final winners Power Vikings (Group B) against Fantastik (65-60).

New clashes in Solino

Toll booths continue to increase
Between Portal Léogâne and Gressier (railway route and RN#2), there are at least 12 toll booths managed by bandits in about 22 kilometers: 1 Boulevard Bolosse, Martissant, 27 and 43 Fontamara, Macaco, 63 Diquini (near the entrance to Carrefour town hall), near the Carrefour cemetery, Mariani, Merger, near the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in front of the Jesuit school in Merger, Lambi and Colombier 9 in the municipality of Gressier.

Miss World: Finalists representing Haiti (list)
On Friday, August 16, 2025, at the Ritz Kinam hotel in Petionville, the Miss World Haiti pageant announced the eight finalists for 2024. The final will be held on August 31, 2024 and will select the contestant who will represent Haiti at the 72nd Miss World pageant in February 2025. The finalists are: Laury Jeanlus, Djamine Ange Barthélémy, Cathie Charles, Lovely Bazile, Camesuze Joseph, Christie Guirand, Achaïna Saint-Vil and Saïka Cadet.
