Arms Trafficking: FBI in Haiti
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) came to Haiti specifically to question customs officer Jean Bernard Joseph, who has been imprisoned since April 13 for his involvement in illegal international trafficking of firearms and ammunition.
Bandit Massacre
In the town of Gresier, clashes between the special forces of the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the armed gangs that attacked the town intensified. This situation completely paralyzed the traffic in the area for nearly 8 days. Jean Vladimir Bertrand, the mayor of Gresier, estimated that more than 70 gangsters were seriously injured in the exchange of fire with the PNH special forces. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Haiti, Jean-Marc Berthier-Antoine, held fruitful talks with the Charge d’Affaires of Mexico in Haiti, Ms. Joana Yolanda Gomez Rodríguez. Paris 2024 Olympics
On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the Embassy of Haiti in Paris hosted a ceremony in Paris to honor the Haitian athletes who will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Ms. Niola Lynn Octavius, members of the Haitian Olympic Committee, the Grenadian delegation competing in France and representatives of Haitian community associations. The event was an opportunity for the diplomatic corps to pay tribute to the athletes who have qualified for the 33rd Olympic Games and to assure them of the support of the Haitian people.
