Jamaica: 14 Haitians have returned home
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, 14 Haitians (10 men and 4 women) in an irregular migration situation were repatriated to Haiti by the Jamaican authorities.

DR : New Ambassador to Haiti
Christine Lamothe is the new Ambassador of Haiti to the Dominican Republic. She succeeds Luc Garvey and Jean Pierre. Christine Lamothe is the daughter of Ambassador to Madrid (Spain), Guy Lamothe, who served as Ambassador of Haiti to Santo Domingo 24 years ago (1996 – 2000).
$31.2 million for the environment
On Thursday, June 27, 2024, Environment Minister Moïse Fils Jean Pierre officially launched the Trois-Rivières Watershed Climate Resilience project. This project, crucial for the sustainable management of land and water resources in Haiti, is a collaboration between the Government, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-Haiti) and Heifer Haiti, and aims to promote resilient agricultural practices and strengthen climate risk management. For a greener future for Haiti. The project has received $31.2 million in funding over 8 years.
Blog contest, 10 finalists’ texts
From May 9 to June 21, 2024, the European Union organized a blog/video blog competition for young people from 10 departments of Haiti. The goal is to increase the capacity of this young generation to talk about the environment and concerns in their local context. About 60 young people from all over the country signed up for “Konkou Ayiti 2024”.

National Forum of Civil Society Organizations
On the morning of Thursday, 27 June, Prime Minister Gary Cornille officially launched the National Forum of Civil Society Organizations (27-28 June) on the theme “Youth and Women in the Transition Process”. In his opening remarks, Cornille said: “I tell my country’s youth and women that they are not only Haiti’s future. They are Haiti’s present, not only because they each represent more than 50 per cent of the population in their category, but also because their courage to overcome adversity is a source of inspiration for those who lead this country. Haiti will prevail.”
