Paleontologists have discovered a new species of dinosaur, a 7-foot-long dinosaur that they named after the Chamorro creation story Pontan and Fo’na. “This new dinosaur is named Fona Herzogae. Fona is a really cool dinosaur because it’s a small dinosaur and it’s rare. When we think of dinosaurs, we think of these giant beasts that roamed the Earth, but there were a lot of smaller dinosaurs, too. They’re hard to find,” explains paleontologist Haviv Avrahami, a doctoral student at NC State and digital technician for the National Museum of Science’s Duel of Dinosaurs project.
