The first round of departmental elections took place yesterday. Five pairs were chosen. One of the biggest surprises was the elimination of Lucette Michaux-Chevry from the sixth state.

The participation rate in the first round of provincial elections in Guadeloupe was 44.42%.

State 6: Saint-Claude/Basseterre

Elie Califer and Brigitte Rodes were elected in the first round: 58.04%

– Simon Balagne and Lucette Michaud-Chevry: 41.96%

9th Canton: Lamentin

Jocelyn Sapotille and Liliane Maximin Bajazet were elected in the first round: 60.51%

– Renee Epaminondas and José Toribio: 29.70%
– Renette Julliard and Patrice Nanette: 9.78%

10th state: Marie-Galante

Maryse Etzol and Marthyr Nagau were elected in the first round: 66.30%

– Hugot Ibalot and Harry Serbon: 25.26%
– Guy Asipe and Lillian Pace-Kutrin: 8.44%
