A man who was HIV positive and sexually abused his 15-year-old daughter while under the influence of crack cocaine has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The case was heard behind closed doors at the Basseterre Circuit Court earlier this week.

This was a trial of a 15-year-old for incest.

Even worse: rape and “voluntary transmission of HIV” to the victim.

Because the defendant knew that he was infected with HIV, but he abused his daughter many times without any protection.

These events took place over several months, between January and October 2012, in Pointe-à-Pitre and Les Sabim.

The defendant was a strong user who had contaminated the mother before attacking her children.

The 38-year-old was found guilty of all the acts he was charged with by the Basseterre Circuit Court.

He was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment and will be under social and judicial supervision for 10 years after his release from prison.

He is now registered on the automatic judicial file of sex offenders. Of course, he has suffered a complete revocation of parental authority.
