A violent fight between two people took place yesterday afternoon in Grand-Bourg de Marie-Galante.
One of the men, a 42-year-old, grabbed a machete and struck the other man in the arm.
The victim was taken to University Hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.
However, she is 35 years old and her life is not in danger.
The motive for their dispute may have been a €200 debt related to the repair of a motorcycle.
The 40-year-old man was detained by police.
