Newly elected MEP Grzegorz Braun is searching for the absurdity of the “European collective” – and he has found it. According to him, at the European Parliament headquarters in Strasbourg there are “contract workers who go to flush the toilet between meetings”. What does the European Parliament have to say about this?
A clip of an interview with Federal Parliament member Grzegorz Braun about the alleged absurdity of the European Parliament has sparked interest on social media. Internet users who commented on Braun’s statement were mostly critical of the EU, because of what they consider the absurdity of the EU bureaucracy. “One of the most important activities of the European collective farms is paid for by our donations”; “Of course, this just screws up Europe”, “Long live ecology, huh?” – they wrote angrily (original spelling of the post).

Hold meetings more than once a month and committee meetings
Grzegorz Braun’s statement comes from interviewwhich he sent to a YouTube user on July 26, 2024. The caption indicates that in this talk Grzegorz Braun “spoke harshly about the absurdity of the European Parliament”. The first one is the monthly meeting of the European Parliament, for which “all of Brussels gathers in Strasbourg”. “Documents and documents are loaded onto trucks, cars are loaded onto trailers, drivers and assistants are transported, and all of Brussels goes to Strasbourg and spends a week there as a scene from a movie or rather a sitcom”, says Braun.

Grzegorz Braun from the Federal List was mandated as an MEP in the June European Parliament elections, receiving nearly 114,000 votes. The voting area covered the Małopolska and Świętokrzyski Voivodeships. He does not belong to any political group in the European Parliament and remains non-partisan. In June 2024, the Politico website included him in the list of the 23 “weirdest” newly elected members of the European Parliament.
