A 51-year-old man from Gainsilem was working in a residential house when the roof collapsed, causing him to fall from one floor and sustain serious injuries.
Police said the incident took place at Malta Triq at around 6.30pm on Thursday.
Medical teams and members of the Civil Defence provided first aid to the man at the scene before he was taken to Gozo General Hospital where he was later transferred to Mater Dei Hospital.
Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an investigation.
The police investigation is still ongoing.
