A number of Gozo athletes were recognised for their contributions and achievements in the field of sport at this year’s ninth Gozo Sports Awards during a ceremony held at Sannat Square on Wednesday evening.
Gozo and Planning Minister Clint Camilleri, who presented the awards, said the athletes’ efforts were recognised, while also praising the commitment of many others.
The winners were selected by an independent committee as follows:
Official of the Year – Mark Camilleri
Coach of the Year – Franklin Grima
Team of the Year – Gozo Dream Yacht Racing Team
Recognizing an active athlete aged 45 or over (selected by Gozo Services) – Noel Grech
Recognition for Sport (selected by the Gozo Ministry Service) – Raymond Attard
Special Recognition Special Olympics – Giuseppina Galea and Carmelo Pace
Promising Young Woman – Kayla Attard
Promising Young Male – Liam Daly
Female Athlete of the Year – Lara Calleja
Sportsman of the Year – Marlon Attard.
