Role Overview:

The Global Safeguarding Specialist (GSS) will report to Right To Play’s Director of People & Culture (DPC) and deliver a best-in-class safeguarding approach that builds on the organization’s existing safeguarding work. You will provide leadership and systemic operational support to Right To Play (RTP), working with senior leadership, programs, communications, fundraising and support teams across RTP’s country offices and fundraising offices. You will serve as the lead for safeguarding across the organization, helping us to build a culture of safeguarding in all aspects of our work. You will serve as a subject matter expert on humanitarian access and community engagement strategies. You will ensure that appropriate protocols and mechanisms are in place to address the unique risks and challenges of country programs.

You will design and deliver safeguarding awareness and training sessions, both face to face and via our Learning Management System (LMS), to ensure all staff and volunteers are aware of RTP’s safeguarding policies and procedures and the behaviours expected of them at all times. Working with project colleagues, you will support RTP in embedding safeguarding into project design, implementation and monitoring, and within their operational systems. Strengthening and expanding our existing reporting systems will be an important aspect of the role, particularly as we work with and through communities and partners. You will lead and/or direct investigations related to safeguarding issues, ensuring excellence and maintaining a survivor-centred focus.

You will draw on relevant expertise and experience, ideally built in a diverse international context, to foster a culture of shared responsibility for conservation. As a leader in the field, you will stay abreast of trends and innovations and continually update the RTP team, improving our processes and systems to reflect these.

Expect international travel to account for approximately 20-25% of your time.
