GG reminds MPs to remember their duty to serve the people

Governor General, Rev. David Tiwa Kapu has reminded all Members of Parliament to lead the country in accordance with our national motto: “To Lead is to Serve”.

He made the call during a speech in parliament on Monday.

“As we begin the second session of the 12th Parliament, I also want to remind you of our national motto ‘To Lead is to Serve’.”

“I also remind myself that we all have a responsibility to build our nation individually and collectively; we are all Solomon Islanders.”

“On behalf of the government, I pledge allegiance to the national anthem and constitution of our beloved Solomon Islands.”

He said Solomon Islands was fortunate to have a rich and diverse culture, natural resources and a young population which were the country’s assets.

“As stewards of our natural resources, we must remain vigilant and be mentors of integrity to our children and young people,” he said.

Karp stressed the importance of shaping the right values ​​and wealth among the younger generation as they are the cornerstone of the country’s future.

He said the Government’s Unity and Change Policy aims to empower people to actively participate in the economy and the Government’s vision is to achieve unity, change, economic development and prosperity in the Solomon Islands.

He added that the Government’s mission is to govern and cooperate strategically, foster sustainable growth, nurture national unity, develop infrastructure, empower people, protect marine resources, develop the agricultural sector and enable a better life for all Solomon Islanders.
