Twenty years ago, a British woman who only called herself “GG” came to Jamaica to experience the typical tourist experience – partying on white beaches, having a good time and soaking up the hot sun. But she ended up falling deeply in love with Jamaican culture and people.
The businesswoman began raising goats six years ago and her British accent blended with her Jamaican Creole has grown it into a lucrative business at GG Farms in Clarendonville.
Two and a half years ago, she came up with the idea of making and selling goat milk soap and decided to develop it into a value-added product.
GG 100% Natural Goat Milk Soap is made with all-natural ingredients including organic honey, raw Jamaican sugar cane, Jamaican castor oil, and other vegetable oils.
“It’s made entirely from milk from our goat farm. We raise the goats, milk them, process the milk, and turn it into beautiful goat milk soap,” GG shares The Gleaners The 70th Danby Agricultural, Industrial and Food Fair in Clarendon on Independence Day.
She said the soap also has other ingredients based on customer preferences, such as aloe vera, oats, vanilla, turmeric, activated charcoal, lavender, cloves, lemongrass, coffee grounds and peppermint. If someone is interested, they can also request a custom soap.
Great benefits for the skin
GG says there are many benefits to using goat milk for skin care, not only is it nourishing, it also has anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties.
“It’s really great for people with acne because it really smooths out the skin on the face,” she said, noting that she is assisted by two other women who are also goat farmers.
Other benefits of goat milk soap for the skin include moisturizing, reducing age spots and fine lines, reducing discoloration, and gently exfoliating, leaving skin looking radiant.
“This is handmade soap, so if you leave it in water, it’s going to get slimy,” she warned.
GG takes great pride in his meticulous and meticulous recipes.
“It’s a unique formula. It has all the ingredients to address every aspect of your skin,” she says.
