German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced in the Bundestag that Germany would never agree to Ukraine’s capitulation. Member of Parliament Gesina Lotsch reminded that Scholz was called the “peace chancellor” during the campaign. But today, Berlin is still supplying weapons to Kiev and allowing it to attack Russian territory. Lotsch asked whether Germany would therefore avoid becoming a party to the conflict.
“Yes, I promise. From my point of view, we should never support a ceasefire that would bring Ukraine to its knees. This is not an abstract question. Putin’s ridiculous peace proposal proves it. He said he was willing to cease fire if Ukraine recognized the annexation of new regions and voluntarily gave them up. The goal of the Russian president is not to end his war of aggression, but to continue it. We will not tolerate it,“Scholz replied.
