This battlefield is a training ground for new soldiers.
He made the announcement on Thursday, July 25, 2024, when more than 50 Rwandan youths from seven countries on different continents visited the first and second parts of the history of the liberated country.
It is a journey from Kagitumba border where the national liberation struggle began and Jikoba border where the first RPA/Inkotani base was located and where the leaders of the national liberation struggle resided.
General Kabarebe said RPA forces have regrouped and are launching attacks in the north and east of the country, looking for land to stay and where to launch attacks from.
They were told how the RPA planned attacks using a variety of tactics and all of them were successful.
The land was located in Jikoba, in the Tabagui region, and due to the heavy attacks of the expeditionary force, the war leaders asked them to build a shelter to avoid the heavy enemy fire.
He said he was the one who had it built by the President of the Republic, Paul Kagame, and he was the leader of the struggle as it was filled with other leaders of the groups who were asked to build it and asked their soldiers to watch it to protect themselves from the enemy.
He said, “I was in charge of the security forces of the Minister of Defense (President of the Republic) at the time and I was the one who dug up the house where he lived.”
Rtd General James Kabarebe shares the history of the centimetres of land first occupied by the Inkotanyi people in Rwanda
He told them that the ground they were standing on was stained with blood from the wounds and bodies of many young men their age who had fallen in the struggle to liberate their country.
He said: “Rwanda must continue to develop. In this centimeter, you cannot know how many young people of your age are lying here, their bones, their blood are walking on it. You are walking on the blood of young people of your age who died here. They died so that you can continue the cause they died for. They fought for the development of this country, and you are the ones who need strength.”
Tulagala Arnold said visiting the Museum to End Genocide and the ongoing struggle to liberate the country gave them a better understanding of the history that Rwandans have gone through.
They were explained how the Inkotanis were attacking from the Kagitumba border as all other routes were denied
He said the knowledge they gained from abroad would help them develop their own country. “The knowledge we learn abroad must be brought to Rwanda to improve development activities in our country,” he said.
Sandra Kabandana, who lives in Belgium, said there are some young people in this country who look down on the genocide against the Tutsi because they have been told the true history of the genocide, so they should also learn to get rid of their own delusions.
“On social media, people are saying only untrue things with no evidence, we have to tell them the truth because we came to Rwanda and we saw the history and they asked them to come and learn and get rid of the confusion,” he said.
Most young people live in continental Europe
Although most of them were in Rwanda for the first time, they expressed their happiness to be in their home country and said they should contribute to the development of Rwanda because of the knowledge they gained there.
