The Directorate affirmed that strengthening the role of women in the maritime sector facilitates their access to practical and basic training in maritime training courses and qualifies them to work in Saudi maritime companies and ports, in addition to serving as maritime trainers. It noted that this is achieved by providing an appropriate environment for all female workers in the maritime sector to receive basic practical training in maritime training courses in accordance with the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Maritime Workers, 1978, as amended.
She explained the requirements for female employees to apply for the Maritime Trainer Certification Course as this requires obtaining a dedicated maritime training course, passing an assessment test for the dedicated training course, obtaining a trainer of trainers course, in addition to passing a physical fitness test.
Notably, the trainer, Najla bint Salman Al Nuaimi, in addition to completing a professional maritime course at the Aramco Maritime Training Academy, also underwent extensive training and testing as a trainer, with follow-up guidance from the Aramco Maritime Sector Agency and the General Directorate of Transport, to ensure that she met basic international maritime training requirements.
