Retreat participants work to strengthen community governance
After two days of retreats, more than 80 leaders gathered with very different views on the commitments made at the beginning of the year and the implementation of the Five-Year Plan of the President of the Republic.
Gazibo District Governor Gasana Richard said the purpose of the retreat was to look at themselves and how to leave behind what they have achieved.
The other thing is to think about how they can do the rest based on what they committed to this fiscal year and how they can set it at a higher rate than in previous years.
Mayor Gasana Richard said the retreat was aimed at self-evaluation and how to leave behind what has been achieved.
“We’ve looked at the work that still needs to be done, but we’re focused on our commitments for this year, continuing to do well and continuing to improve,” he said.
He said apart from that, there was also discussion on good people-centred governance and what that meant and how they could provide good services to the people and other people in the region.
“We talked about good governance, especially people-based, and we remembered what that meant, and everyone agreed, but we were also committed to providing good service to our residents and all our neighbors,” he said.
During this retreat, security measures were also taken in the community to enable residents to do their work better and have freedom.
Chairman of Gazibo District Council, Sibomana Said, asked leaders to stick to their guns and put people first.
