The match between Criollos de Caguas and Osos de Manatí of the National Super Basketball Team (BSN) was postponed due to lack of light at the Roger Mendoza Stadium.

According to the portal “La Guerra del BSN”, teams from LUMA Energy, the company responsible for the transmission and distribution system of electrical services on the island, will carry out energy restoration work in the area.

According to the LUMA Energy portal, more than 4,000 customers in the Caguas area were without power service around 8:35 p.m.

A power outage hit the Caguas area Saturday morning, leaving about 16,414 customers without electricity.

LUMA Energy calls for electricity rate hike

This Friday, LUMA Energy filed a request with the Puerto Rico Energy Office (NEPR) to increase its electric service rates.

The company said in a news release that the increase would be 1.4 cents per kilowatt-hour. Again, he said it was a quarterly adjustment to fuel costs.

“LUMA submitted to the NEPR the calculations for adjustments to the costs of purchased fuel and energy, and customer rates could increase based on information provided by Genera PR and independent energy producers (PIEs) on fuel costs and purchases of energy used by its generating facilities. Combined with the approved tax contributions paid to municipalities, subsidies for certain types of customers and annual factors for energy efficiency, the increase for most customers could be 1.4 cents starting in July,” it said.
