DUSAMAREB (HOL) – The Galmudug Regional State leader, Ahmed Abdi Kariye Koko, has accused politically motivated groups of inciting inter-clan fighting between militias from Puntland and Galmudug states.
President Kurkul said that individuals with political ambitions exacerbating conflicts between brother clans were more harmful than the Al-Shabaab problem within the society.
“There are two problems among the people. First, the enemies of terrorism are inciting our country. Second, those who call themselves politicians and do not fear God are destroying the country,” said President KK.
He welcomed the efforts of scholars and commissions from both governments to travel to the conflict zone to separate the warring militias and organize peace conferences for a ceasefire.
Last week, inter-communal clashes in rural areas between Goldo Gob and Saakurun in the Mudug region left nearly 30 people dead and more than 50 injured. The clashes involved militias from the Saad and Lelakase clans over a land dispute.
