French President Emmanuel Macron has previously said France, the United States and Israel will work together to ease tensions on the Israel-Lebanon border. Since January, France has been actively seeking a diplomatic solution to the escalating situation, with Hezbollah exchanging fire with Israel every day since the conflict between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7.

Cross-border violence has intensified recently, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict. Macron told a Group of Seven summit in Italy on Thursday that the three countries would “move forward according to the road map we proposed. We will do the same with the Lebanese authorities.”

According to Lebanese officials, the French plan involves halting attacks on both sides and getting militants to withdraw 10 kilometers from the border.

Diplomatic sources told Lebanon’s daily that a trilateral summit between the United States, France and Israel is about to be held to seek a solution to the conflict in Gaza and southern Lebanon.
