Guinea Alumina Company (GAC) mines and exports bauxite, the ore from which aluminum is extracted. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. The company directly provides employment for nearly 3,200 people, 96% of whom are Guinean, and operates mining concessions located in the northwest of the Republic of Guinea in West Africa. Once mined, the ore is transported by rail to the company’s port facility in Kamsar on the country’s Atlantic coast and then shipped by sea to global markets. In 2023, GAC Group’s direct contribution to Guinea’s economy in terms of wages, local procurement, government payments and social donations was close to US$283 million.
