New Delhi: For ten days starting tomorrow, September 4, 2023, Delhi Metro will sell ‘Tourist Smart Cards’ through dedicated counters at selected Metro stations to facilitate G20 delegates and international tourists arriving in Delhi during the upcoming G20 Summit, who may be interested in exploring the famous tourist spots in the capital.
‘Tourist Smart Cards’ can be purchased at special counters at stations (list attached) and come in two categories: one-day and three-day cards, which allow unlimited travel on the metro network. A one-day tourist smart card costs Rs. 200 and a three-day card costs Rs. 500. This amount also includes a refundable deposit of Rs. 50.
Apart from unlimited rides, these cards are also very convenient for tourists as they can travel seamlessly across the network, from the first train of the day to the last train. Tourist smart cards do not incur fines/surcharges for entry/exit mismatches, overstaying within the system, crossing borders, etc.
The Delhi Metro is the largest metro network in India and one of the largest metro systems in the world. It is well connected to almost all the famous tourist attractions in the city such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Akshardham Temple, Kalkaji Temple, etc. Tourists can use these cards to travel on various corridors of the Delhi Metro and reach these tourist attractions seamlessly. Tourists can also download the ‘Delhi Metro’ app to get more details about the network to plan their trip. The app also contains a dedicated section on the homepage called ‘Travel Guide’ where tourists can find a list of all nearby stations and tourist attractions.
Tourist smart cards are available at all metro stations except the Airport Express. Anyone who wants to explore the city can pick up these cards from the station at any time of the day.
