The 2024 Bic Southern Business School Futsal Cup has now entered the knockout stages, with the competition set to take place at the FMF Sports Stadium in Suva on Monday.
Tournament director Alan Kumar noted that this year’s men’s division was very competitive, with many teams having regional representatives.
“The group stage was very intense and all the teams were well prepared and showed great competitiveness,” said Kumar.
“For Monday’s knockout rounds, the Ministry of Education, Pacific Customs Agents Ltd. and DHL are the favourites to advance to the quarter-finals.
“The winners of the elimination round will qualify for the cup category while the losers will enter the plate category.
“In the women’s competition, the team with the highest score after the round-robin will be declared the winner.
“USP is a team to watch because they are a first-time competitor and are comprised of university students.”
The competition is made possible by the support of sponsors BIC and Blue Gas.
Around 1,000 players and officials had the opportunity to compete and eliminate non-communicable diseases.
The theme of the tournament is “Say No to Drugs and Domestic Violence” and the organizers are proud to champion this cause.
