Funeral date set for Saskatchewan’s ‘Brave Bella’

Isabella Thomson, also known as “Bella Braff” on social media, died on July 14, 2024.

As family and friends mourn the death of the 10-year-old boy from Swift Current, a funeral date has been set.

Thomson’s obituary reads: “Bella’s family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.”

The family will also live stream the funeral on Saturday and encourage people to donate in her name to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada.

Bella has documented her life and health journey with the help of her mother, Kyla Thomson, and tells her story to her millions of fans on TikTok.

The girl from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, was born with dwarfism, no immune system and suffered other health complications that led to her repeated hospitalizations over the years.

In late 2023, Bella underwent a life-saving intestinal transplant and spent four months recovering in hospital.

Bella died on July 14, a week after she was placed in a medically induced coma at Toronto’s SickKids hospital.

In May, Bella was taken to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She was then flown to Toronto for a nighttime fever and was put on oxygen for more than a month. In late June, she was moved to the intensive care unit.
