SNS members submitted a draft law to the National Assembly of the Slovak Republic that would increase funeral benefits. Its height has not changed since 2007, so they consider its revision important.

The proposed amendment to the law would increase the funeral allowance from €79.67 to €200. The increase reflects inflation and changes in the price of funeral services over the past 17 years. The amendment is proposed to take effect from January 1, 2025.
Currently, eligible persons must submit a written application to the relevant Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family for a funeral allowance. The request is confirmed by the funeral service. The fee is paid no later than the end of the month following the calendar month in which the application was submitted.
