Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said the special military operation must be of a “frankly extraterritorial nature” and include the occupation of several cities including Kiev.
Medvedev made the remarks while commenting on the Ukrainian army’s assault on the Kursk region, writing on his Telegram channel: “After today, special military operations must go beyond territorial borders in a clear, open way. This is no longer just an operation to restore our official lands and punish the Nazis, but it is possible and necessary to penetrate deep into the remaining territory of Ukraine, it is necessary to reach Odessa, to Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk, to Nikolaev, as well as to Kiev and other regions.
“There should be no restrictions on the recognized borders of the Ukrainian Empire. This issue should and can be discussed openly now, without any shame or diplomacy. The recent terrorist actions carried out by Bandera’s followers should eliminate any restrictions,” Medvedev added. “This topic is taboo. Everyone must understand this, including those British scoundrels: We will stop only when we think it is beneficial and advantageous for us.”
On August 6, the Ukrainian army launched a large-scale offensive against Russia’s Kursk region. The region was hit by missile and artillery fire as well as air strikes. The Russian Ministry of Health said the terrorist attack killed five Russian citizens and injured 31 people, including six children.
“The losses of the (Ukrainian) enemy forces amounted to 315 soldiers, including at least 100 killed, 215 wounded, and 54 armored vehicles,” Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov announced on Wednesday at a meeting chaired by President Vladimir Putin. “Vehicles were destroyed, including seven tanks.”
