JAYAPURA (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s easternmost region of Papua has made significant progress thanks to the electrification process implemented by state-run power company PT PLN.
In addition to providing physical electricity to Papua, electrification has also brought a glimmer of hope to communities in the region’s interior.
The flow of electricity to remote areas and forested villages has opened up new possibilities for development in Papua.
Electrification not only means that the people of Papua have access to electricity, it also lays the foundation for economic development and improved social life in the region.
Local chef Charles Toto plays a vital role in bringing progress to Papua through gastronomy.
He has been actively promoting and launching authentic dishes made from ingredients sourced from the Papua forests.
Organizing various culinary events deep in the jungle to promote Papuan cuisine to the world is nothing new for the chef.
Toto has been using electricity more efficiently to forage and record food ingredients more effectively, which will help him further enhance the appeal of Papua’s cuisine in the eyes of the world.
Among other things, access to electricity has enabled people in the region to build simple dryers to dry spices collected from the forest, store and distribute the ingredients, and support the local culinary industry.
PLN’s presence in Jayapura, the capital of Papua province, is not simply about installing electricity infrastructure.
