“The Houthi militias refused to release Major General Faisal Rajab in all negotiations, so we welcome his release,” Deputy Information Minister Fayed Numan confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat.
Numan stressed the importance of the humanitarian file, especially the issue of prisoners, abductees and missing persons, not to become a political and media blackmail card for the Houthi militias, who, he said, “put the interests of their regional racist projects above all other interests in Yemen.”
Fayez al-Numan called the release of Rajab in this way a “failed attempt to glorify the ugly Houthi image stained with the blood of Yemenis”. He said: “The Houthis continue to use the issue of prisoners and abductees for false media and political gains, even though Major General Faisal Rajab has been the primary demand for their release since the 2018 Stockholm Agreement.”
