Shortly before the Tokyo Olympics silver medallist was disqualified from the competition, a video emerged on social media showing her being denied access to the warm-up track.

Fraser-Pryce said on social media earlier on Sunday that she was struggling to “find the words” to describe the “deep disappointment she feels.”

She wrote on Instagram: “I know my supporters share my disappointment. … I am beyond grateful for the support of my fans, my country and the wider community that has sustained me throughout my career.”

“Every step of the way, every victory, you guys are by my side.”

She added: “My faith has always kept me grounded on this journey.”

The International Olympic Committee said in a statement that Jamaican chef de mission Ian Kelly confirmed that Fraser-Pryce withdrew from the competition due to an injury sustained during the warm-up, following reports that she withdrew because she was denied access to the competition venue.

About two hours before she was set to take to the track, X-TV revealed a video showing Fraser-Pryce and American sprinter Shakari Richardson being denied access to the Paris warm-up area via the normal route.

She withdrew from the competition shortly thereafter.

Richardson American Runner-up and won the silver medal.

The Jamaican sprinter will still compete with the Jamaican 4x100m relay team.

Fraser-Pryce has won eight Olympic medals, including Tokyo In 2021.
