A four-car crash on a major thoroughfare has left much of the regional highway in a traffic jam on Tuesday morning.

A police spokesman told Times of Malta It was confirmed that no one was injured in the collision, but it did cause a serious traffic jam.

As of 1pm, Google Maps traffic data showed heavy traffic on the northbound route from Marsa to Kapala. Traffic on the southbound lanes was less congested but still busy in the area between Msida and Marsa.

Drivers in the Kormi area were also hit by similar traffic woes after a car and truck collided at the Imgerak roundabout. No one was injured in the accident either.

Both crashes occurred during the heavy August downpours that hit the Maltese Islands on Tuesday morning.

The Malta International Airport Meteorological Service has predicted thundershowers on Wednesday and warned of possible thunderstorms on Thursday.
