Norma Saliba has announced her candidacy for the Labour Party presidency, months after she was unceremoniously kicked out of the TVM newsroom.
Saliba, who resigned as head of news at the national broadcaster last year citing a “deceptive campaign of personal attacks”, said she was asked to run by Prime Minister Robert Abela.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Saliba said that after careful consideration, she had decided to accept Prime Minister Robert Abela’s invitation to nominate her for the position. “As part of the party’s ongoing renewal, new momentum and new ideas are needed,” Saliba wrote.
