Tegucigalpa – Organized Crime, Environment and Corruption A judge this Wednesday sentenced former football player Oscar “Pescado” Bonilla to 11 years and three months in prison for aggravated drug trafficking.
A Judiciary spokesman said: Lucia Villarsconfirmed that the former football player underwent the aggravation procedure.
Likewise, Bonilla was ultimately fired for being convicted of illegal carrying of a weapon.
According to investigations, the former football player led a drug trafficking gang called “Los Halcones” that operated in the departments of Gracias de Dios and Atlántida.
The gang’s modus operandi is that they receive large quantities of drugs on the high seas via speedboats off the Colombian coast.
They then hid these goods in the Mosquitia region and gradually transferred them by sea to the provinces of Atlántida and Cortes.
Finally, it is transported by land to the western part of the country bordering Guatemala.

The former footballer himself said the verdict was fair and that it felt good to accept that he had committed a crime and that he had to pay for the mistakes he had made.
“We will be saved for a while, what is happening is the best for me and I thank God,” he declared to reporters reporting judicial sources.
