From August 1 to 12, Park Borići in Omiš will be the stage for the first performances Omiš Burger Festival Eight restaurants will be showcased: Mate Janković’s Institut za Burgere, Ivan Pažanin’s Chef’s Burger, Marin Medak’s RougeMarin, Vedran Stojanc’s Oui Chef On Wheels, Thai Thai, Beg’s Plant Based, Ginglebells and Central Bar.
Visitors can choose between beef burgers with jalapenos, crispy peppers or basil, as well as pork or white fish burgers, beets and garlic chips or sardine sauce burgers. There are also burgers made exclusively from plant-based ingredients, as well as unusual burgers with peanut butter, papaya and mango.
What type of burgers do JANKOVIĆ, PAŽANIN and MEDAK bring?
Chef Mate Janković will offer visitors the Classic Burger, the Pepper Jack Burger and the Bacon Jalapeno Burger, all made from 100% Croatian beef. Chef Ivan Pažanin arrives in Omiš with his already well-known combinations, the Original Cheeseburger, the Basil Garlic Burger and the Crispy Capra Burger. And, as the organizers say, his beef is all 100% Croatian-raised, but with a special Mediterranean flavor.
Together with Janković and Pažanin, chef Marin Medak will serve the Polish burger at RougeMarin’s home, dedicated to the famous Republic of Poland, made with aioli, olive oil, baby beets, garlic slices and chopped onions. The burger named “Omiš Pirate” will be served with sardine sauce, baby spinach, purple onion rings, sun-dried tomato mayonnaise and black olive tapenade. Both are made with beef from local farms, and also include the Frigani burger with white fish, tartar sauce, salad, tomatoes and fried onions. Here, visitors can enjoy the crispy Bueno roll with vanilla ice cream and forest fruit sauce.
How about a Thai burger?
Zagreb’s Thai street food is coming to Omiš, too, and as they say, their two burgers and a brioche sandwich are full of Thai flavors in every bite. They will serve a Tom Yum beef burger, a Peanut Thai burger with beef patty, peanut butter and Asian coleslaw with mango and papaya, and a pulled pork sandwich, which combines pork, spicy and sour sauce and Asian coleslaw. In addition, they will serve bubble tea.
For those who don’t eat meat
Eduard Beg and his team from Beg’s Plant Based kitchen also arrived in Omiš. The offer will include Beg’s Signature Burger, Beg’s Cheese Burger and Beg’s Chicky Burger, which contain Amaze marinated chicken, Greenvie gouda cheese, tzatziki sauce, fresh cucumber and iceberg lettuce in a plant-based bun.
A slightly different burger
Chef Vedran Stojanac, known to festival-goers for his pasta with Grana Padano cheese rolls, logically came to the Omis Burger Festival as the burger master. Nema tice do prasica is a homemade sourdough focaccia burger served with slow-roasted pork neck steak, coleslaw and green salad, romanesco sauce, grated cheese and black pig lard, while Cow Madness Brother’s name lurks behind its original beef burger, which combines brioche pastry, 100% beef, homemade barbecue sauce, pickles, onion jam, arugula, tomato and melted cheese. For those with a sweet tooth, Stojanac also offers panna cotta and cannoli rolls.
