National People’s Power Party (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said the NPP government will bring in new laws for leaving the party.
Dissanayake told a New Patriotic Party rally in Malwana that this election was special because of the nepotism among the main candidates. “That alone is enough to make you vote for the New Patriotic Party,” he said.
“These parties are frogs that jump around. This is their last chance to defect,” he said.
“If you defect, you can go home,” Dissanayake said. “Politics in this country is corrupt because of this. The New Patriotic Party government will bring a law to solve this problem. There is a similar clause in the 19th Amendment. Vijayadasa Rajapaksa introduced the 19th Amendment in Parliament and Dinesh Gunawardena wanted to remove this part,” Dissanayake said.
“If the clause was there, Vijayadasa Rajapshe’s parliamentary seat itself would have been terminated many times,” Dissanayake said.
