From June 11, Ukrainians will be able to travel to Hungary with a locally issued vaccination certificate.

Hungary became the first EU member state to recognize Ukraine’s complete COVID-19 vaccination certificate and opened its borders to Ukrainians holding such certificates from June 11.

“It’s official: Ukraine and Hungary have mutually recognized COVID-19 vaccination certificates. From June 11, travel with a complete domestic vaccination certificate is allowed. Congratulations to my colleague and friend Peter Szijjártó on the successful implementation of our agreement,” Kuleba wrote.
According to the senior diplomat, Hungary has become the first EU country with which it has signed such an agreement.

- In May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine began actively working on concluding bilateral agreements on the recognition of national vaccination certificates during summer travel. In particular, Ukraine is ready to conclude such agreements with all interested countries until a single vaccination certificate mechanism emerges at the European level.
- On June 9, the European Parliament finally approved the introduction of digital COVID certificates during the pandemic. The legislation is still subject to approval by the EU Council and then publication in the EU Official Journal, and the digital COVID certificates will come into force and begin to be used on July 1, 2021.
- Ukrainian Cabinet Minister Oleg Nemchinov said Ukraine will launch a digital COVID certificate 10 to 14 days after the EU takes action.
