The first ecological park in the state of Anzoátegui was inaugurated at the Andrés Eloy Blanco Recreational Park in Puerto de la Cruz, in the municipality of Sotillo.

The Minister of Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, accompanied by Governor Luis José Marcano and Mayor Nelson Moreno, toured the leisure space, which includes a playground, a multifunctional gym, beach volleyball, a startup zone and a youth zone.

The official said the park’s creation was done within the framework of the Mostacho Fest 2024 community holiday program and was delivered to the National Parks Institute (Inparques) and the Great Young Venezuelan Delegation.

Lorca stressed that more than 10,000 pieces of discarded rubber were used in the construction of the eco-gym’s components, such as the weights, while the park uses waste plastic.

He mentioned that this eco-park is a space acquired for life, peace and eco-socialist consciousness, and is part of the public policy of the national government.

Governor Marcano, for his part, assured that the transformation of this new social and leisure space is part of the investments he has been making since 2022 “to rehabilitate one of the most important parks of Anzoátegui.”

Authorities from both countries stressed that the project was a success thanks to the concerted efforts of President Nicolás Maduro and the coordinated efforts of the Venezuelan state oil company (PDVSA) and Metor.

Puerto de la Cruz now houses the first headquarters of the Great Youth Venezuelan Mission (GMVJ), which will provide attention to boys and girls who want to be part of the 7 capstones of the program and receive training to launch projects and start businesses.

To launch the park, recreational and sports activities were developed in addition to providing care for pets in the company of the Nevado Mission.

Mayra Flamenco, regional director of the Ministry of Ecological Socialism (Minec), has announced plans to build another eco-park in the Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park in Barcelona.
