Finnish aircraft and personnel are carrying out a joint NATO and Royal Air Force air policing mission in Romania.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that the Finnish Air Force’s F-18 Hornet fighter jets took off late on Wednesday night.

The Russian drone launched the Hornet missile at 1:30 a.m. local time. Russia used the Iranian-made Shahed drone. The Romanian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the wreckage of the Shahed drone was found near the Romania-Ukraine border that morning. The Ukrainian military said Thursday morning that Russian forces sent about 40 drones to Ukraine last night.
